There are several ways to get involved in the development of gender services in Wales.
Trans Wales Partnership
The Trans Wales Partnership is a stakeholder group that meets monthly to discuss progress and plans to develop gender services in Wales.
This group includes representatives of the Welsh Gender Service, Umbrella Cymru, and several trans-run / led groups and organisations across Wales, as well as individuals with an interest in, or experience of accessing gender services.
We encourage anyone who would like to be involved in the development of gender services in Wales to register their interest in joining the group.
Meetings are arranged by Umbrella Cymru. You can read more information about the volunteer member role and register your interest by clicking the link below (look in the Volunteering section for Trans Wales Partnership Member).
Purpose
The objectives of the Trans Wales Partnership are to:
- Bring members of the trans communities of Wales together to discuss and provide constructive and valued feedback to providers of Welsh gender services.
- To review policies and procedures to identify barriers and improvements for individuals or groups of individuals accessing Welsh gender services.
- To suggest and support effective communication between the trans communities of Wales and service providers.
- To provide a link to the wider community of service users to gather opinions, comments, questions and concerns from across Wales (representatives).
Membership
The Partnership will comprise of:
- ‘Independent Chair / Vice Chair’ – Member of the group (by election).
- ‘Community Members’ – Members of the trans communities in Wales who have accessed, will access, or otherwise have an interest in gender services in Wales.
- ‘Representative Members’ – Representatives from groups or organisations offering information and support to the trans communities of Wales.
- ‘Service Providers’ – Representatives of providers of gender services in Wales.
* Organisations / Groups will be allocated one membership space. The group or organisation can nominate any person to attend to represent them. This might vary between meetings.
Recruitment
The application form will remain open continuously. The panel will review applications in April, July, October and January.
Members will be recruited to the Partnership for their:
- Knowledge of gender identity or gender services, and /or
- Experience of gender diversity or gender services, and / or
- Links and connections with trans and non-binary people, groups or services.
Membership of the Partnership should reflect the diversity of communities in Wales, including (but not limited to) gender identity, age, geography, race and ethnicity, religion and belief, ability and disability, sexual identity, experiences, socio-economic status and social mobility.
Members of the Partnership are not expected to represent all voices of those who share experiences or characteristics, but instead offer comments and questions based on their individual experiences, or those that others have shared with them.
Volunteer at the Clinic

The Clinic encourage applications to become a volunteer. There are a range of key tasks you could be responsible for as a volunteer, including meeting and greeting people as they arrive for their appointments, sitting on interview panels, contributing to the design and development of policies and practices and more.
